As of the 0.148.6 update, an extra step is required.
As per the patch notes
- Ingame console disabled by default (add launch argument "-console" to enable)
- The console command for enabling developer/debug commands has been changed to “devcommands” from “imacheater” and a warning message has been added.
To add the launch argument do the following.
- Open your Steam library.
- Right-click Valheim and select Properties.
- Click General on the left side of the window.
- Enter "-console", without the " " in the box under Launch Options.
- Close that window and launch the game.
Press the F5 key to open the console window.
